Cool! Good thing with a OHSHC cosplay, if it's the uniform, you've completed all of the other Host Club's costumes.
Same thing goes with the Shinigami outfit, they're mostly all the same!
Not all cosplay costumes that you buy look really bad, I bought a FMA jacket and it looked really good. It wasn't that expensive either (I think it was about $20 something...).
But, most cosplay items and costumes do cost alot.

But some items you have to buy because they are really hard to make(Such as [for me] Urahara's hat)!
BTW do you have any idea how make a neck of a costume stand up? Like Uryu's Quincy costume? I've been having so much trouble with this it's not even funny.

Oh great, now I feel like making an OHSHC uniform.

Well, I usually look for cosplay costumes(or items) on ebay. So far it's been pretty promising, I have a FMA pocket watch, FMA jacket, and a pair of Soul Reaper sandals from Bleach from there and I got my friend a Sand headband from Naruto for her birthday there. They all looked relatively good. Again the price wasn't as well as I hoped and I got confused with the prices as well (FMA pocket watch - $50, FMA jacket - around $30 or $20, Sandals - 10 pounds, I didn't notice the pounds symbol so I ended up paying $20, and Headband - $15).

i searched google for fma jackets and they ended up being over $100!! no way i wuz gonna pay for that!
an ouran uniform seemed to be the best (and easiest) out of all my options for cosplays. i already have pants and shoes i can use so i basically just need to find a jacket and get a Haruhi wig if u find anything like that at a good price PLEASE let me know

Ebay is the first place I checked when I started looking for cosplay items. I don't know any other places to check for cosplay items except for House of Anime(website) but they don't have a wide selection of cosplay items.
I'll look for a OHSHC jacket and a Haruhi wig for you. If I find one or both, I shall send you a link!

the first website i found for cosplays was cosplay magic(website) and they had a sorta big variety but the cosplays seemed pretty bad quality xP and very expensive...
